LONGPORT – The Board of Commissioners has approved surfing and kayaking locations and beach opening dates for the summer season in Longport.

The borough will permit the launching and retrieval of kayaks on the following beaches during the summer months: between 14th and 15th avenues, 22nd and 23 avenues, 27th and 29th avenues, and 32 and 33rd avenues.

Surfing will be permitted at 12th, 22nd, 28th and 32nd avenues during the hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Beaches will be guarded 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. starting June 1 at 16th, 26th, 30th, 33rd avenues; starting June 8 at 19th, 31st, and 35th avenues; starting June 15 at 13th, 21st, Pelham, and 34th avenues; and starting June 22 at 25th Avenue.

One the weekends of May 25 and Sept. 21, beaches at 16th, 26th, 30th and 33rd avenues will be opened weather dependent at the discretion of the chief.

Bathers are advised to only swim when lifeguards are present.
