Lucy the Elephant.

MARGATE – The Save Lucy Committee is offering three guests and their friends a chance for an overnight stay inside Lucy the Elephant, one of the first National Historic Landmarks to be listed Airbnb.

Starting March 5, longtime Lucy fans, or anyone who is looking for a night unlike any other, can book a one-night stay inside Lucy the Elephant. Stays being offered March 17-19 will be priced at $138. According to a release posted on Lucy’s Facebook page, the price reflects the number of years she has graced the Margate shoreline.

During their Airbnb stay, guests will be transported back in time to the early 20th century when Lucy was briefly converted into a summer vacation home. Her interior has been decorated in classic Victorian style to resemble how that home could have looked in 1902, shortly before it opened as a tourist attraction where visitors could tour the furnished interior of “the Elephant House” for only 10 cents.

To celebrate this historic stay, Airbnb will be making a donation to the Save Lucy Committee, supporting efforts to keep Lucy the Elephant standing “Jersey Strong” for future generations.

Reservations will open at noon EST, Thursday, March 5 on airbnb.com/lucy.
