Margate Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association Local 41 will once again host its annual Lunch with Santa noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14 at the Margate Municipal Building Multipurpose Room, 9001 Winchester Ave.

The City of Margate and the Margate City Public Library will present the Bay Atlantic Symphony New Year’s Eve concert 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31 at the Dominick A. Potena Performing Arts Center, 7804 Amherst Ave. Admission is free, but tickets are required. Tickets are available for Margate residents only starting 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30 at the Margate City Public Library, 8100 Atlantic Ave. Tickets must be picked up in person. Robert’s Place will celebrate the New Year in true Downbeach style at the 26th annual Polar Bear Plunge.At noon on New Year’s Day, thousands of people will gather on the beach at Essex Avenue for a quick dip into the ocean. Organized by Margate watering hole, Robert’s Place, the event raises funds for the Wounded Warrior Project. Participants are invited to “pre-game” at the bar before the event and then continue the party afterwards.
Longport Holiday Tree and Menorah LIghting 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13 at the Longport Gazebo at 35th Avenue and the beach. Santa will arrive on a fire truck. Refreshments and crafts will be available at the Community Building at 33rd Avenue.
The Longport Police Department invites the community to contribute new, unwrapped toys for the 2019 U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program. Drop off toys in the lobby of the Police Department at the rear of Longport Borough Hall, 2305 Atlantic Ave. now through Tuesday, Dec. 18.

The Longport Historical Society will sponsor its annual Mitten Tree at Longport Borough Hall, 2305 Atlantic Ave., during the month of December. Items requested are: gloves, mittens, scarves, hats, and “fun” underwear for younger children. Donations are distributed to children through local school nurse’s offices and charitable groups.
