MARGATE – Newly crowned Ms. New Jersey Senior America 2018 Suzie Neustadter, 61, of Margate was honored Thursday, July 19 for achieving “the age of elegance” and bringing “smiles and joys to the city.”
Mayor Michael Becker presented the proclamation of recognition and congratulations during the Board of Commissioners work session, stating Neustadter is a “confident, capable and talented woman with no limits in sight.”
Becker said that during the pageant held at Harrah’s Atlantic City concert venue on June 6, Neustadter displayed “dignity and maturity” with her philosophy of life speech, stage presence, vocal performance of “Home” from Broadway hit musical “The Wiz,” and interview responses.
Neustadter is a third-generation Margate resident, who raised two children in Margate. At her music business, Suzie Neu Music, and vocal camps she held in the city’s public schools during the summer months for more than 10 years, Neustadter coached many local children and adults to improve their vocal talents. She is also a professional singer, who started her singing career nearly 40 years ago at the Rendezvous Lounge at Resorts International Hotel Casino.
“Suzie’s accomplishments are a shining example to all young and young-at-heart that there is never an expiration date on the appreciation of grace and talent in the many stages of youth,” Becker said.
Neustadter thanked the mayor and commissioners and said Margatians should be proud of their hometown.
“We have a very special town here that we need to embrace,” she said accepting the proclamation. “When people from other parts of the world come to visit me, the first thing they say when they come to my house is, ‘Where do you live. This is utopia.’ They really appreciate it. We’re used to it, but it’s a beautiful, wonderful place, and a great place to grow up,” she said.
Neustadter was accompanied by two other local woman who achieved the crown in prior years – Johanne Santori of Margate who wore the crown in 2008 and Becky Orsatti of Atlantic City who won the title in 2010.

Neustadter was also recognized by the Atlantic County Board of Chosen Freeholders at its meeting on Tuesday, July 17.
She will go on to compete in the national Ms. Senior America Pageant being held Thursday, Oct. 18 at Resorts Hotel Casino in Atlantic City.
