Maria Mento

MAYS LANDING – The Atlantic Cape Community College Board of Trustees held its annual reorganization meeting Tuesday, Nov. 20 at the Mays Landing Campus. Maria Mento of Ventnor was elected chairperson, James Kennedy, Esq. of Linwood was elected vice-chairman and Ellen Nicholson Byrne, Esq. of Sea Isle City was elected treasurer.

Mento is the first Atlantic Cape alumna elected to chair the board. She is a management consultant for Jersey Professional Management and serves as the administrator of the City of Ventnor. She is the former executive vice-president and chief finance officer for the Atlantic County Utilities Authority. A 2018 Atlantic Cape Distinguished Alumni recipient, Mento has an MBA from Rutgers University.

Kennedy has more than 30 years of experience working in the public and legal sectors, higher education and casino gaming. He is the former executive director of the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority and Stockton University Foundation.

Byrne is an attorney and part-time public defender in Sea Isle City. She is also a substitute teacher for the Ocean City School District and involved in the production team for the Drama Guild.
