The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for the Jersey Shore. Heavy rain and gusty winds are expected to continue into Friday evening, and minor to moderate coastal flooding will cause flooding in low-lying areas through Friday morning’s high tide, which will occur at approximately 7 a.m.

Margate Police Chief David Wolfson said barricades will be erected to close off traffic in low-lying areas.

Those in flood prone areas are asked to move vehicles to higher ground before Friday morning’s high tide.

At the request of Atlantic City Office of Emergency Management, the New Jersey Casino Reinvestment Development Authority has authorized the Wave Parking Garage, Mississippi and Fairmount avenues in Atlantic City to provide free overnight parking for all area residents and visitors from 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20 through 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21.

Overnight parking will only be permitted on the fourth floor of the garage during this time. Standard Parking personnel will be on duty through the overnight hours. Residents will be required to show proof of residency. Parking will be validated at the exit gate upon departure.

Emergency management advises motorist to avoid driving through flood waters. Driving through flooded streets will severely damage your vehicle, risk personal harm for you and emergency personnel.

Make NO WAKE. Driving through flood waters creates a wake will severely damage garage doors, fences and other property.

Remember: Turn around, don’t drown!
