VENTNOR – Spring has sprung. The Atlantic County Library System/Ventnor, 6500 Atlantic Ave., has announced its events for April.

EARTH DAY TREE

Visit the library’s Earth Day Tree and share ideas on how to help the environment with a recycled paper leaf Monday, April 1 through Tuesday, April 30. As the tree grows leafy, it will remind us that little differences can really add up.

FOOL US ON APRIL FOOLS DAY

Librarians love reference questions. Celebrate April Fool’s Day by stumping the librarian, or make him/her laugh by wearing a costume, and get your picture taken.

GATHERING WOOL

Quilting and knitting club meets 10 a.m. to noon every Tuesday, April 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30. Free program for all levels of experience. Stitch, loop, crochet, knit, craft and chat.

TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR HEALTH

This diabetes self-management class will be held 1-3:30 p.m. Tuesdays, April 2, 9 and 16. Learn how to manage diabetes symptoms, communicate with your health care provider, improve eating and exercise habits and cope with stress, fear and frustration.

WEDNESDAY MORNING COMPUTER HELP

Get some help with your computer skills 10 a.m. Wednesdays, April 3, 10, 17 and 24. Get all your computer questions answered. Set up an appointment by calling 609-823-4614.

CHECKMATES CHESS CLUB

Open chess program for all ages noon to 4:30 p.m. Saturdays, April 6, 13, 20 and 27. Exercise your mind, play chess with others.

RECYCLED SOUP CAN HERB GARDEN CRAFT

Celebrate Earth Day with this adult gardening/craft program 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 17. Create a unique herb garden using a recycled soup can. Bring your own can or use one of ours. Registration required. Call 609-823-4614.

READ & PLAY BABY

Bring your little ones, ages 12-36 months, to young story time hour 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays, April 18 and 25. Enjoy stories, songs, stretches, rhymes, puppets, felt boards, finger plays and more with your child. All are designed to develop early literacy skills. Ask how to join the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program.

INTO THE EVENING BOOK CLUB

Monthly book club for adults 6:15 p.m. Thursday, April 25. Join the discussion of great books and great company. This month’s selection is “Before We Were Yours: A Novel” by Lisa Wingate.

HISTORY EXPLORERS

This monthly history-based series of events being offered 10-11:30 a.m. Saturdays, April 27 and May 25 will look back in time to visit fun destinations through books, costumes and themed activities. In April, the group will explore “Pompeii & Beyond: Ancient Volcanoes.” In May, it’s “Are You My Mummy? An Egyptian Craft Experience.”

All branches of the Atlantic County Library System will be closed Good Friday, April 19.
