VENTNOR – During its reorganization meeting on Thursday, the Board of Education changed the time of board meetings for the next year.

Meetings, which were formerly held at 6 p.m., will now start at 5 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday of the month through June 24, 2020, except for November and December when meetings will be held on the third Wednesday of the month.

There was a “slight push from administration” to get the meeting set at 5 p.m., school board President Doug Biagi said.

Biagi said it would be a “good start” in making it easier for the teachers to attend the meeting, he said.

“They won’t have to go home and can stay for an hour or so. I think it works for everybody,” he said.

Vice-president Kim Bassford said the board should determine if an earlier start time brings more of the public to the meeting.

“We’ll try it for a year,” Biagi said. “It may be easier for them.”

The board will also hold a special meeting at noon Wednesday, May 29 in the superintendent’s conference room to award contracts for summer construction projects, including parking lot improvement, auditorium renovations and fire protection system upgrades.

The next regular meeting will be held 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 26 in the atrium at the Ventnor Educational Community Complex, 400 N. Lafayette Ave.
