ABSECON – NAMI Atlantic/Cape May is offering a “Family-to-Family” Education Course this fall to offer a beacon of hope for families and loved ones suffering from mental illness.

NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is offering the course free of charge at the United Methodist Church of Absecon, 100 Pitney Road, starting 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18. The class runs 12 weeks every Wednesday evening. Parking is available behind the church.

The program is designed to empower participants with facts about mental illness, coping and communication skills, advocacy and access to appropriate treatment and rehabilitation resources.

The program will help participants overcome isolation often associated with mental illness and develop open lines of communication during times of crisis and stability.
