VENTNOR – In the early morning hours Sunday Dec. 15, an alert resident called 911 reporting several individuals burglarizing parked motor vehicles in the area of Burke and Cambridge avenues in the Ventnor Heights section of the city.

Responding patrol units under the supervision of Lt. Frank O’Neill and Sgt. Patrick Hiltner were able to locate and apprehend six subjects who fled from police on foot.

An investigation determined that six juveniles had entered seven motor vehicles in the area and stole various items and money. Police said all seven vehicles were left unlocked.

Police charged Atira Rice, 18, of Atlantic City with burglary, theft, obstruction and conspiracy. Rice was released on summons pending court hearing.

Also charged with curfew violations, burglary, theft, obstruction and conspiracy were four males, ages 14-17, and a 14-year-old female, all from Atlantic City. They were all released into the custody of a parent/guardian pending court hearings.

Investigating officers include Patrol Officers Raymond Aiuto, Damian Guanchez, Marc Franco Jr. and Chris Luisi.

Capt. Joe Fussner said the investigation is continuing and more charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
