MARGATE – The Margate Business Association has announced its 2020 Daniel and Maria Walters Scholarship Program. The MBA will award two $2,500 scholarship to high school seniors who attended the Margate City schools and will be seeking higher education. Last year’s recipients were Alec Freedman and Jake LaMonaca.

Scholarship funds are raised through yearly MBA special events, donations and the annual Spring MBA Wine Tasting, which will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, April 2 at Steve & Cookies By The Bay.

The applicants are required to submit a 250-300 word essay on a stated topic: is the applicant willing to join Greta Thunberg’s movement addressing climate change, providing three reasons for the applicant’s response, either for or against.

In addition to providing personal information and the name of their college, university and major course of study, applicants will also be required to submit three adult references from a classroom teacher, someone associated with the applicant in extra-curricular activities and a community sponsor who could provide a personal reference.

Applications are available online at www.margatehasmore.com. The deadline to apply is April 6.

Since its inception the Daniel and Maria Walters Scholarship Program has awarded $105,500 to further the education of Margate’s youths.
