LONGPORT – After revising its ordinance regarding beach vending, the borough is seeking bids for a one-year license to sell ice cream, water ice and water on the beach.

Sealed bids are due to the Borough Clerk’s Office by 2 p.m., Friday, April 9. The minimum bid amount is $25,000.

The successful bidder can have up to five employees and all will be required to submit to a background investigation by borough police.

The borough also approved a list of products and prices that can be sold on the beach. The list matches the list in neighboring Margate City.

Copies of the bid specifications can be obtained by contacting Borough Clerk Monica Kyle at 609-823-2731, ext. 100 or emailing clerk@longport-nj.us.

In prior years, the borough offered a one-year license with an option to renew for a second year with a 5% increase in the bid amount. However, the borough changed its ordinance and will offer licenses on an annual basis.

Borough commissioner agreed to start the bidding process in December for the 2022 season.
