AtlantiCare is collecting period products for women and teens who lack resources.
EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – There is a plethora of feminine hygiene products on the market, but many women and girls in the region cannot afford these essential items. In the last year, one in four women struggled to afford period products, and one in four teens missed school due to lack of period products, according to the Alliance for Period Supplies.
AtlantiCare Family Planning is collecting pads, panty liners and tampons for women in need. Individuals can drop off product donations at AtlantiCare’s LifeCenter in Egg Harbor Township and its Health Park in Manahawkin. Police departments, municipalities, a church and supermarket are among the other organizations collaborating with AtlantiCare to raise awareness about “Period Poverty.”
World Menstrual Health Day was May 28, but throughout the month of June, AtlantiCare is taking product and monetary donations to purchase products and provide educational support and information to its patients and for other community partners who assist women and girls.
