LONGPORT – Through the generosity of year-round and summertime residents, the Herb Stern Longport Scholarship Fund was able to award $22,250 in scholarships this year. On Wednesday, June 16 Stern awarded scholarships to 16 Longport students who recently graduated from high school or are currently attending college.

The money will go toward tuition for the 2021 fall semester. Awards were based on student academic performance, standardized tests, extracurricular activities, work history, career objectives and financial circumstances.

Stern’s son Bob Stern presented the scholarships during the Board of Commissioners meeting. The recipients are:

  • Thomas Rafter
  • Luke Kramer
  • Tai Schiavo
  • Owen Kramer
  • Birdie Stewart
  • Christian Kuhn
  • Tanner Tomassi
  • Kallista Kuhn
  • Kai Tripician
  • Alanna Larson
  • Nalu Tripician

Some of the scholars, who excel in academics, athletics and extra-curricular activities, were unable to attend because they are still in school or working their summer jobs.
