VENTNOR – A sunny fall day is a good way to bring the community together for an end-of-summer season Sunday supper, one of the organizers of Mangia, Mangia Ventnor Community Pasta Night said.

“It’s a feel good event for the neighbors and the community,” City Administrator Maria Mento said. “The commissioners’ goal is to bring people together to sit, talk and break bread.”

The “Sunday gravy” dinner will be served under a big tent set up on Monmouth Avenue between Dorset and Dudley avenues next to The Red Room Cafe, which is donating all the food. The four-course meal served on long tables, includes salad, appetizers, spaghetti and meatballs, and Tiramisu for dessert.

Yummy tiramisu.

Attendees can bring their own wine. Vic Rubino will be there singing Italian classics.

“I went to one in Haddon Heights before COVID and it was very nice, and the commissioners wanted to do a community event,” Mento said. “Hopefully, ours will be well attended. I know the food will be good.”

Only 100 tickets will be sold in advance only for the rain or shine event, and Mento said Thursday more than half the tickets have already been sold. Tickets are $30 for adults and $15 for children and are being sold on Eventbright.com. Search for Ventnor Pasta.

Seating begins at 1 p.m. and dinner will be served at 2 p.m.

Mento said the city hopes to hold the event in subsequent years.

“Any funds over and above our expenses will be put toward some sort of beautification of the two-block Dorset Avenue business district,” she said.
