Free lung cancer screenings available

In support of November being Lung Cancer Awareness Month, The AtlantiCare Cancer Care Institute is hosting three open-house events to motivate higher-risk individuals to get screened for lung disease.

At each event, Interventional Pulmonologist Dr. Amit Borah will be on hand to answer questions and help individuals assess how their specific lifestyle habits and health history impact their risk level for lung disease, including cancer.

In addition, for individuals meeting certain criteria determined by age, past or present smoking habits and pack-per-day history, the AtlantiCare team will provide a prescription and appointment scheduling for a free low-dose CT lung scan. The events are as follows:

  • Wednesday, Nov. 17 from 9 a.m.- noon. AtlantiCare Cancer Care Institute, 2500 English Creek Avenue, Building 400, Egg Harbor Township
  • The “Great American Smokeout,” Thursday, Nov. 18 from 8-11 a.m. AtlantiCare Life Center, 2500 English Creek Avenue, Building 200, Egg Harbor Township
  • Friday, Nov. 18 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. AtlantiCare Cancer Care Institute, 106 Court House South Dennis Road, Cape May Court House.
