GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP – A panel of cannabis experts will lead an online panel discussion 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 15 about legal recreational cannabis use and opportunities for New Jersey hospitality and tourism businesses.

The free one-hour webinar titled “Destination Cannabis: Insight for New Jersey Hospitality and Tourism,” will focus on destination marketing, cannabis agritourism and food and beverage tourism.

The discussion is presented by the Cannabis & Hemp Research Initiative at Stockton, one of the first universities to offer a minor in cannabis studies. CHRIS provides cannabis and hemp education, research and resources for local and national markets and demonstrates Stockton’s commitment to cannabis education through panel discussions, and an annual Cannabis Curriculum Convening.

Panelists for the March 15 webinar include:

  • Brian Applegarth, founder of the Cannabis Travel Association, and the co-founder of Cultivar Brands, a California-based marketing and events agency providing strategy and solutions for cannabis and travel destinations.
  • Susan Dupej, a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada post-doctoral fellow at the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada, whose research projects look at cannabis tourism supplier best practices.
  • Chicago native Jamie Hoffman runs Craft Elixirs LLC, a small-batch, cannabis-infused edible company in Seattle, Washington, specializing in simple syrups, oils, and confections made with locally sourced high-quality ingredients.
  • Author Rob Mejia, adjunct faculty Cannabis Studies Minor, Stockton University and president of Our Community Harvest, a cannabis education company. He has written books that introduce adults to cannabis and the cannabis industry.

The panel moderator will be Jenna Misciascio, who graduated Stockton University in 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management Studies and a minor in Cannabis Studies and hnw works in the cannabis tourism industry.
