VENTNOR – Future lifeguards are invited to participate in the Ventnor Beach Patrol Junior Lifeguard Program being held 10:30 a.m. to noon Tuesday through Friday, July 5-8 for ages 5-9; 10:30 a.m. to noon, Monday through Thursday, July 11-14 for ages 10-14; and 10:15-noon Saturday through Tuesday, July 16-19 for ages 13-17 in the Lifeguard Explorers program.

The fun and safe Junior Lifeguard program is designed to educate children on beach and ocean safety, foster interpersonal relationships, build teamwork and introduce children to the skills required to become a lifeguard. Activities include stretching, warm-ups, running and rotating skill-building stations. The fourth day of each session includes friendly competitions in the beach run, surf dash and beach flags, ending with a barbeque with all the fixings.

The Explorers Program will provide first-hand experiences in the duties of lifeguards. They will learn how to do several different types of rescues, learn about the tools used by lifeguards, and learn different components of the ocean that lifeguards must know to save lives.

Online signs ups are $15 and include a lifeguard T-shirt.
