VENTNOR – In accordance with the recent trend in public project bidding in the Downbeach area, the Board of Commissioners Oct. 13 rejected all bids for two public projects and will readvertise for quotes.

The board rejected a single bid received Sept. 23 to build a kiosk on the Ventnor Fishing Pier. The bid submitted by JPC Group totaling $549,700 was rejected because it came in higher than available funding. The city will readvertise the project in hopes it will secure a better price.

The board also rejected five bids received for the Ocean Avenue curb and sidewalk replacement and paving project.

According to officials, the low-bidder, Charles Marandino, LLC  withdrew its bid totaling $122,875 because it contained a clerical error. The second-lowest bidder, Think Pavers, LLC, submitted a bid totaling $181,250 but it exceeded the funding available for the project. The highest bid amount from Ocean Construction was $393,426.

The board rejected all bids and agreed to readvertize in hopes it would obtain better pricing.
