Absecon Lighthouse, Pacific and Rhode Island avenues, Atlantic City.

ATLANTIC CITY – The Absecon Lighthouse is seeing a volunteer to serve as lighthouse keeper.

According to a Facebook post, the non-profit organization is looking for a volunteer to welcome visitors to the tallest lighthouse in New Jersey.

The tower greeter volunteer would welcome visitors and answer questions about the lighthouse, which is the oldest building in Atlantic City. The job requires 2.5 hours of service per week on Thursday afternoons.

The lighthouse, which has guided mariners since 1857, has 228 steps to the top, where a Fresnel lens shines brightly and offers climbers breathtaking views of the Atlantic City skyline.
