VENTNOR – With a light working agenda Thursday, Feb. 9, the Ventnor Board of Commissioners will take the opportunity to hear from the public and share information about several issues of interest in the community.

The meeting will start off with a discussion about short term rentals, to be followed with two presentations.

About 60 people attended a commissioners’ meeting on Sept. 22, 2022, to weigh in on concerns about the estimated 400 short term rental properties operating in the city. The board is considering increasing the length of stay to two or three nights instead of just one. The city is hoping to get revisions to its ordinance governing short term rentals in place before the summer season approaches.

The Ventnor Water Works Foundation will be presenting its plan to refurbish the fountain in front of the Ventnor Water Works building on Winchester Avenue. A group of concerned residents has approached the city with a plan to restore the large fountain that was built nearly 100 years ago.

Afterward, Commissioner Tim Kriebel will present the results of an online forum that asked a limited number of stakeholders to present their ideas for beautifying the city’s five business districts.

Kriebel said he plans a short PowerPoint presentation about the results of a brainstorming session to determine if the city is interested in moving forward with implementing ideas in the future. The brainstorming session was held during a three-week period in September 2022.

The meeting will be held 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9 at Ventnor City Hall, 6201 Atlantic Ave.
