Rendering of Lamberti’s new restaurant.

MARGATE – They say seeing is believing. A contractor recently told the Board of Commissioners that Lamberti’s Restaurant and Sunset Marina, which has been under construction for several years in the Marina District along Amherst Avenue, is shooting for a July opening.

Lamberti’s said that last year, and the year before…but this year, it is likely to happen, Keith Luduck of Isotherm Exteriors, LLC of Gloucester City said at the June 1 commission meeting.

Luduck said he is the fifth contractor to work on the building and he was hired by the owner’s bank to get the work completed so the owner can move to permanent financing.

“It’s going pretty well now,” he said.

He said the metal roof has been ordered and the board and batten siding would be installed in the next week or two, followed by finish interior work, which he said will be “outrageous.”

“They really did a nice job with it,” he said.

Luduck said he tended to some exterior work requested by the city to accommodate parking in the area. However, Solicitor John Scott Abbott said the city has a list of things that need to be resolved before the restaurant can be given a Certificate of Occupancy.

“A lot of money was lost not being open last weekend,” Luduck said, so everyone is anxious to get the project completed and opened by July.
