Longport Volunteer Fire Department

Ventnor and Longport will be holding their annual 1-mile runs Independence Day weekend.

Ventnor will be holding its 51st annual Ventnor Mile, 7 p.m. Monday, July 3 starting at New Haven Avenue and the boardwalk. The event includes live music, food trucks and fireworks.

Pre-registration at reduced rates closes June 19. Cost is $15 for adults, $10 for children under 11 and includes race T-shirt while supplies last. Late and race day registration is $20, $15 for children under 11.

Awards will be presented to male and female age group winners.

The Longport Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual American Mile 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 4. The race starts at 11th and Atlantic avenues and travels north to Pelham Avenue.

Pre-registration at reduced rates is available until June 20 at a cost of $20 per person, $15 for children under 10 and includes T-shirt. T-shirts only are available at a cost of $20 before June 20.

Advance and race day registration 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Longport Fire House, 2305 Atlantic Ave. is $25, $20 for children under 10.

Race day bib and shirt pickup will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4-6 p.m. at the firehouse.

Awards will be presented to male and female age group winners, and for first, second and third place overall.

After the race, participants and their families can head to the beach to watch neighboring Margate’s annual fireworks display at 9 p.m.
