Margate students were awarded O’Hara-McCormick Memorial Scholarships June 15. Those present were Joseph Pepe, Gavin Grant, Mary Wagner, Grace Gaskill, Eva Blanco and Bryn Swift.

MARGATE – Twelve local high school students were awarded scholarships from the Margate Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association Local 41. Firefighter and FMBA Vice-president Danyl Loyle, awarded the O’Hara-McCormick Memorial Scholarships and introduced the recipients who were available for the presentation at the June 15 Board of Commissioners meeting.

“I would like to thank the residents of Margate for their generous contributions to our fund drive which allows us to give back to the community,” Loyle said.

The recipients are Margate residents Alexandra Forte, Paul Swift, Samantha Siligsohn, Gavin Grant, Eva Blanco, Bryn Swift, Mary Wagner, Edward Leeds, Joseph Pepe, Will Robertson, Grace Gaskill and Claire Brooks.

Each student received $350 to use toward their education.

Loyle said the students worked hard to balance playing multiple sports, working and doing community service, all while maintaining outstanding grade point averages.
