VENTNOR – The Police Department held a swearing-in ceremony at the June 22 Board of Commissioners meeting to promote four officers to leadership ranks.

Commissioner of Public Safety Tim Kriebel administered the oaths of office for the officers.

William Borrelli and Peter Munizza were promoted to the rank of lieutenant, and Kevin Brady and James A. Franco were promoted to the rank of sergeant. The lieutenant promotions were a result of a retirement and a reassignment. The sergeants backfilled those vacancies.

Borelli was hired as a Ventnor police officer in 2003. He is a member of the Patrol Division and currently supervises one of the department’s platoons.

Munizza was hired in 2005 and currently supervises the Detective Bureau.

Brady was hired in 2017 and is currently serving as a detective.

Franco has been an officer since 2015 and is a member of the Patrol Division.

In other police business, Chief Joe Fussner advised citizens and visitors to lock their vehicles, even if it’s just for a quick trip to a store. There has been an increase in vehicle thefts throughout Atlantic County, and a majority of incidents could have been prevented by removing key fobs from the vehicles, he said.
