The Ventnor City Police Department Office of Emergency Management has issued a storm alert for Tuesday, Jan. 9 into Wednesday, Jan. 10.

Due to the impending coastal storm forecasted for late Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning, OEM advises residents to take the following actions ahead of the storm:

  • Move vehicles to higher ground, especially in low lying areas
  • Heavy rainfall will lead to flooding, do not drive through flood waters
  • Wind gusts up to 50 miles per hour are expected. Remove or secure outdoor furnishings and trash containers
  • Check on your neighbors, especially the elderly

Note that access to Ventnor Heights may be restricted with road closures due to the high tides on Wellington and Dorset avenues until the water recedes.

If you need to go out, drive safely and responsibly. Be courteous to surrounding streets that might be flooded. The wakes created by vehicles greatly enhance the water damage to residences and businesses.

Do not drive through flood waters. Do not drive around barricades. They are there for your safety. Turn around, don’t drown.

Please be patient and respect orders from first responders.

Updates will be posted on the city’s social media sites.
