VENTNOR – The New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police Law Enforcement Accreditation Program has awarded re-accreditation status to the Ventnor City Police Department, Police Chief Joe Fussner announced today.
The Ventnor City Police Department was initially accredited in 2009. This was the agency’s fifth re-accreditation.
Accreditation is valid for a three-year period during which time the agency must submit annual reports attesting to their continued compliance with those standards under which it was initially accredited.
“Verification by the NJSACOP Law Enforcement Accreditation Program assessment team that the Ventnor City Police Department meets the Commission’s ‘best practice’ standards is part of a voluntary process to achieve accreditation, a highly prized recognition of law enforcement professional excellence,” Fussner said.
Police accreditation is a self-initiated process of adopting and maintaining standardized policies and procedures. Accreditation is a progressive and time-proven method of assisting law enforcement agencies to evaluate and enhance their overall performance. The Ventnor City Police Department complied with NJSACOP LEAP standards to achieve accredited status.
The New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police through its New Jersey Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission is the legitimate authority and accreditation agency in the State of New Jersey.
