ATLANTIC CITY – Police have identified a man killed in motor vehicle collision on the Black Horse Pike Sunday, Feb 10 as Marco Jesus Gutierrez, 31, of Tampa, Florida.

Police responded at 6:58 p.m. to the westbound lane of North Albany Avenue (Rt. 322) for the report of an accident involving a pedestrian. Gutierrez was walking in the left lane when he was struck by a Honda being driven by Juan Restrepo, 38, of Hyattsville, Maryland. Restrepo stopped his vehicle, which had sustained heavy damage. This caused collisions with two additional vehicles.

A Ford van being driven by Joel Scott, 40, of Ventnor crashed into the rear of Restrepo’s vehicle and an Infinity sedan being driven by Raina Roche, 20, of Margate crashed into the rear of Scott’s vehicle.

Gutierrez suffered traumatic injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Restrepo had minor injuries and was transported to Atlantic City Medical Center City Division where he was treated. Other drivers were evaluated at the scene and released.

The Atlantic City Fire Department and Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Fatal Accident Unit assisted at the scene. The roadway was closed for about two hours as the investigation proceeded and the road was cleared.
