Garden Talks are offered at the ACUA Environmental Park on Delilah Road in Egg Harbor Township. The next one is on Tuesday, Aug. 13.

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – Although most home gardeners are just starting to pick their Jersey tomatoes and zucchini, it’s not too early to start planning fall vegetable crops. Experienced and beginning gardeners alike are welcomed to participate in the next “Garden Talk” of the season 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13 at the Atlantic County Utilities Authority Environmental Park, 6700 Delilah Road.

Master Gardener Coordinator Belinda Chester will help gardeners get the most out of the season by planning and planting for the fall season. For many gardeners, it’s easy to start out strong in the spring and loose steam as the hot weather, garden pests or weeds present challenges in the garden. But there’s a great opportunity to extend the season and your harvest with a little planning. The Master Gardeners will provide the information about what plants are good to grow and when to get them started for a successful fall season.

Garden Talks are hosted by the ACUA in partnership with the Rutgers Master Gardeners of Atlantic County. These informal talks are held at the ACUA’s Community Garden and offer a chance to learn from knowledgeable Master Gardeners, and for participants to ask questions about growing their own healthy food.

When the weather is good, these talks are held in ACUA’s Community Garden, which offers spaces for those who cannot garden at home. “Garden Talks” move indoors to a meeting room in the building next to the garden when needed. The garden is located at the ACUA’s Environmental Park, 6700 Delilah Road, in Egg Harbor Township. The meeting room is in the Geo Administrative Building at the same location.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, see acua.com or call 609-272-6950.
