ATLANTIC CITY – The Atlantic City Blackjacks announced a partnership with the New Jersey Education Association Tuesday, Sept. 3 highlighting the creation of a new reading program and a Most Improved Student Night at a 2020 home game.

As part of the partnership, NJEA members will take part in the “Reading with the Blackjacks” program. Students who read five books before the season will receive a complimentary ticket to the team’s home opener and an invitation to an exclusive pre-game speaking event.

“As educators, we encourage our students to become avid readers. Reading connects students with a larger community and gives them the opportunity to become lifelong learners,” NJEA Associate Director for Organizing and Coalition Building Dawn Hiltner said. “The Blackjacks reading program shows our students that reading is a fun and rewarding hobby.”

The Blackjacks will also honor select students with complimentary tickets and in-game recognition at their Most Improved Student Night. Additionally, the team will provide tickets to NJEA teachers and support staff during a special Teacher Appreciation Night as a thank you for their efforts.

Other aspects of the partnership include a VIP Touchdown Club table for use by NJEA members at all regular-season home games, season-long Blackjacks’ Book Drives, and special NJEA discounts. Blackjacks players and dance team members will also visit local schools to read to students and share the importance of a quality education.
