The Atlantic County Health Department announced the deaths of 30 individuals from COVID-19 over the last 10 days, Dec. 24 to Jan. 2.
There were 1,489 new COVID-19 positives among 712 males, ages 4 months to 94, and 777 females, ages 1 month to 93. One-hundred-three people were reported as recovered. The number of “recovered” individuals indicates those confirmed to be clear of symptoms after designated isolation period. Approximately 25% fail to respond to initial contact or follow-up letter and 3% choose not to participate upon contact, therefore their recovery status cannot be confirmed.

The county will resume COVID-19 drive-thru testing Tuesday, Jan. 12 by appointment only for Atlantic County residents at the county’s Public Works yard, 617 Dolphin Ave. in Northfield Appointments can be made by calling 1-888-285-2684.

The county is also offering COVID-19 vaccinations for Phase 1A individuals (healthcare personnel and longterm care facility residents) at Atlantic Cape Community College Main Campus in Atlantic City.
Once vaccine availability expands, vaccination will advance according to CDC guidelines to Phase 1B (essential frontline workers and those over age 75), then Phase 1C (those 65-74 and those ages 16-64 with underlying medical conditions), and then Phase 2 (everyone else).
