LONGPORT – The borough is making it easier for commuters to catch the 505. The Board of Commissioners March 16 introduced an ordinance eliminating NJ Transit bus stops at four locations along Ventnor Avenue. Although it sounds like that might cause an inconvenience to commuters, the move will actually help shorten commuters’ walk to the bus stop.

A public hearing on Ordinance 2022-04 will be held 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 13 at Borough Hall. The ordinance eliminates the bus stops currently located on both sides of 30th and 32nd avenues.

According to Borough Administrator A. Scott Porter, bus stops for the 505 Bus Route will be located on all odd-numbered avenues along Ventnor Avenue.

Porter said NJ Transit approved the changes after Atlantic County gave the go-ahead. Ventnor Avenue is county road.

Porter said the borough would comply with whatever signage is required by the transit agency.

“The new stops will start after the ordinance is approved,” he said.
