MARGATE – Commissioner John Amodeo swore-in three new police officers at the Board of Commissioners meeting Thursday, Jan. 5. Among them are the son of the current police chief and a former longtime firefighter. They were hired according to the requirements of the State of New Jersey Civil Service Commission.

Nicholas Hankinson, the son of Police Chief Matthew Hankinson, was sworn-in as a full-time police officer to fill the last of two vacancies created through attrition. He was born and raised in Margate and is a Stockton University graduate. He will attend the Camden County Police Academy starting next week, and is scheduled to graduate in June. Afterward, he will partner with an experienced officer for in-house training.
