MARGATE – Due to the pending stormy weather forecast, the Margate Business Association has cancelled its Fall Funfest by the Bay slated to be held this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 23-24.

Public safety concerns are paramount for the organization and the potential for high winds, up to 3 inches of rain and possible coastal flooding created a situation where Funfest cannot be held safely.

The event was first held 22 years ago and cancelled only once before during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The MBA was expecting more than 125 vendors and entertainment experiences, including music, parades, marine life exhibits and inflatable rides that could be impacted by unfavorable weather conditions.

“We are heartbroken to have to cancel our marquee event,” MBA president Ed Berger said. “We consulted several local meteorologists, local public safety officials and experts, and although none of us wanted to see this happen, we have to think of the safety of the thousands of people that come enjoy and participate in Funfest every year.”
