The board also approved three-year contracts for five employees of the Recreation Department, a sanitation inspector for the Public Works Department and it promoted Assistant Public Works Superintendent Pat Powers to the position of Public Works Superintendent. He replaces retired Public Works Superintendent Frank Ricciotti.

The employees will receive 15 sick days and between 12 and 23 vacation days. Salaries range from $46,048 to $99,605 in the first year to $48,379 to $110,700 in the final year of the contracts.

In other business, city Solicitor John Scott Abbott discussed procedures for applying for a $3 million grant that could fund the purchase of land for parking. The city will need to provide a letter of intent to sell from a property owner and an appraisal by the deadline in January.
